I was born a poor black chile and now I'm a poor black woman. I grew up out on Long Island. I was the only black girl on my block to like the Islanders and Led Zeppelin. This caused my popularity amongst black youth to decrease and so I cast my lot with the white druggie youth of Long Island. I have never gotten over it.
